Changing history is easy. It's what comes after that's difficult. Traveling through time to twelfth century England was never on Maryanne Warren's to do list. Not that modern-day life's going so well, but at least her little brother is in it. He's the only reason she's climbed out of bed recently. To get back to him, she's just got to convince young outcast, Robin of Woodhurst, to become Robin Hood. It should be simple. A quick trip through time, instigate a carriage robbery or two, then back to life as she knows it. But somehow Rob slips through the walls she's spent years building and makes her care about his cause. She doesn't even want to think about the way his intense stare renders her speechless. As the time to return home draws closer, she becomes less certain her brother is her future. Perhaps her place is here at Rob's side, as his Lady Marian. But the magic that sent her here has its own agenda, and Maryanne must decide which of her two lives is the life worth fighting for. This fast-paced retelling with a slow-burn romance will keep the pages turning until late at night. If you love Sarah J Maas, Kiera Cass and Marissa Meyer, you'll love this.

Winner of the 2016 Lambda Literary Award for Bisexual Fiction “I read The Life and Death of Sophie Stark with my heart in my mouth. Not only a dissection of genius and the havoc it can wreak, but also a thunderously good story.” —Emma Donoghue, author of Room “This novel is perceptive, subtle, funny and lingers in unexpected ways. The analysis of a woman who puts her art above all else is equal parts inspiration and warning story. Anna North makes prose look easy.” —Lena Dunham, Omnivoracious.com Gripping and provocative, The Life and Death of Sophie Stark is a haunting story of fame, love, and legacy told through the propulsive rise of an iconoclastic artist. Sophie Stark begins her filmmaking career by creating a documentary about her obsession, Daniel, a college basketball star. But when she becomes too invasive, she finds herself the victim of a cruel retribution. The humiliation doesn’t stop her. Visionary and unapologetic, Sophie begins to use stories from the lives of those around her to create movies, and as she gains critical recognition and acclaim, she risks betraying the one she loves most. Told in a chorus of voices belonging to those who knew Sophie best, The Life and Death of Sophie Stark is an intimate portrait of an elusive woman whose monumental talent and relentless pursuit of truth reveal the cost of producing great art. It is “not only a dissection of genius and the havoc it can wreak, but also a thunderously good story” (Emma Donoghue).

One man fought the battle for national purity... and won. By the 1870’s, a young Anthony Comstock arrived in New York City in the middle of the Second Industrial Revolution. America was changing. As the world’s first billion dollar company was being formed, rural families flocked to the city and immigration exploded. New technologies coupled with metropolitan anonymity enabled the rapid spread of obscenity, contraception, and abortion. Insufficient laws had not caught up to new challenges and Comstock saw how these vices would have a detrimental effect on the family and American culture if not properly checked. At the age 28, he made an unconditional surrender of his life to the will of God; he gave up his personal ambitions and took God’s will for himself, no matter what might be the cost. He entered the fight. He began by making citizen’s arrests and incredibly within a year he found himself in Washington, DC meeting with congressmen and drafting the Postal Act of 1873. The Comstock Act, as it soon came to be known, passed in dramatic fashion during the final hours of the 42nd Congress and Comstock himself was shortly thereafter surprised with an appointment to be its chief enforcer with the newly created office of U.S. Post Office Special Agent. Thus, Comstock embarked on the life work in which he would serve for the next 42. This thrilling and remarkable story tell the account of how Anthony Comstock fought the battle for national purity and won. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.” (Isaiah 41:10; 54: 17)
