DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton brings her trademark blend of funny and sexy to this second contemporary romance in the brand-new Hudson Valley series! Manhattan’s It Girl, Natalie Grayson, has it all: she’s a hot exec at a leading advertising firm, known industry-wide for her challenging and edgy campaigns. She’s got a large circle of friends, a family that loves her dearly, and her dance card is always full with handsome eligible bachelors. What else could a modern gal-about-town wish for? The answer, of course, is...cheese. Natalie’s favorite part of each week is spending Saturday morning at the Union Square Farmer’s Market, where she indulges her love of all things triple cream. Her favorite booth also indulges her love of all things handsome. Oscar Mendoza, owner of the Bailey Falls Creamery and purveyor of the finest artisanal cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer, is tall, dark, mysterious, and a bit oblivious. Or so she thinks. But that doesn’t stop Natalie from fantasizing about the size of his, ahem, milk can. Romance is churning, passion is burning, and something incredible is rising to the top. Could it be...love?

DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK:

A unique offering to military studies critiquing the effectiveness of the Royal Canadian Air Forces' aircrew preparations for war, a selection system and training program which became a modern model. English (war studies, Royal Military College of Canada) traces the development of aviation psychology and the treatment of psychological casualties in air combat, paying attention to the controversy of diagnosing aviators as "lacking moral fibre" and its effect on morale. By exploring these issues, the author includes the human dimension as an influence on air force effectiveness, as much as material and technological innovations. Includes some photographs. DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK:

How do the college you attend and the choices you make in college shape your life? Is an elite education worth the investment? This book, based on a major longitudinal study, is the first to examine these vital issues systematically. In Cream of the Crop, we meet members of the Stanford University class of 1981 ten years after graduation. Their stories show how the rising professional elite has dealt with such issues as reconciling career and family, defining success, and finding satisfaction in work. Their lives tell us worlds about how our brightest young adults are shaping careers, family life, leisure activities, and plans for the future. And their experiences demonstrate how decisions made in college affect career and family choices. Herant Katchadourian and John Boli began studying these men and women as undergraduates, classifying them into four categories: Careerists, Intellectuals, Strivers, and Unconnected. Ten years later, they found remarkable consistency among the members of each group, and reached some exciting conclusions about how the former students had shaped their lives. They discovered that while the educational elite does make more money than the general population, in theory these people value intellectual challenge, creativity, and independence in a job more than money, power, and prestige. The authors found that students classified as Intellectuals in college spent the least time in graduate school. And they determined that, although the women generally earned 27 percent less than the men, they had higher household incomes - and greater earning parity with their spouses. The authors conclude that the approach students took - single-mindedly pursuing a career goal or sampling a wide range of courses - reverberated throughout their later professional and personal lives.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK:

From the author of the “clever, creative, and sweetly delicious” (Kirkus Reviews) The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and the forthcoming Simplicity of Cider comes a novel about an exasperated wife and mother who makes a play to reignite her marriage—and risks everything in a gamble she hopes is a sure bet. When Milwaukee-area wife and mother MJ Boudreaux notices her husband Chris seems more interested in the casino than her, she’s more bothered that she isn’t upset than by her husband’s absence. She picks up poker as a way for them to spend more time together—and reignite their marital flame. Although the game doesn’t give her the quality time with Chris that she’d hoped, MJ finds she has a knack for it. Increasingly unhappy at home, she turns to the felt top of the poker table for comfort. Intoxicated with newfound freedom, MJ begins spending more time at the gambling tables and less with her family, finally carving out for herself a place outside her role of wife and mother. After a string of great wins, MJ finds herself in Vegas, attracting the attention of a certain magnetic poker star. But when she’s forced to choose between her family and her new exciting lifestyle, the stakes may be higher than she thought and MJ will have to play her hand carefully…or risk losing it all. Don’t miss Amy E. Reichert’s sparkling new novel The Simplicity of Cider, available now!
